Indoor Toddler Activities “The Parade”

I LOVE @busytoddler on Instragram. Susie is just awesome, she has the most clever and easy ideas to entertain our toddlers while also being super nonjudgemental (and just really lovable!). She realizes that not every Mom has the time (or energy) to plan elaborate activities and you can really customize it to you/ your family. She has such great ideas for keeping kids busy and learning through playing which is especially important during this crazy time! Her website is here

We just did this parade below with Sloan my 2 year old, she managed to line up all of her rubber ducks (there are over 40…) and then sort out some of her toy bins to line them up together (and I managed to make dinner during this) and then put them away in their correct bins leading to a little less chaos. So wins all around!

JetSweat brings New York’s most exclusive studios to you

JetSweat brings New York’s most exclusive studios to you

When you can’t get to your favorite boutique fitness studio for long time, the separation anxiety can feel #real. But, good news: It’s getting it easier to indulge your workout-warrior obsession on the fly, whether from your home studio or a far-flung corner of the world, thanks to a new app that houses cult-favorited classes on one platform.

JetSweat—which gives you digital access to top-of-the-line classes for $10 a month—launched on April 3, and grants members with exclusive access to classes from studios like BariSky Ting YogaXtend Barre, and modelFIT. Instead of spending upward of $35 per class in-person, co-founders Erin Frankel and Alexandra Dantzig want fitness fanatics to be able to get their sweat on anywhere they want, for a fraction of the cost. And they want to keep the routines from getting stale.

Bonus- the company was founded by two ferrous women- Erin Frankel and Alexandra (Lexi) Dantzig. Erin has been a close friend (and bridesmaid!) to me over the years and it has been so amazing to see her brilliance shine and creating and launching an app that truly adds so much value and meets such an unmet need (moving away from NYC then being pregnant, JetSweat was launched at the most perfect time for me!

Select studios- and there are so many more!! Check them all out here

Launch of HuffPo Women: Who Will Carry the Torch?

Yesterday marked the official launch of Huffington Post Women, which, in Vixely’s mind, is a major media triumph. The lead article by actress and activist Marlo Thomas, “Who Will Be Them for a New Generation of Girls?”, explored the question of who will be the Gloria Steinem or Betty Friedan of the Gen Y era, both of whom blazed the trail for women’s rights in the 1970s. The article describes the fight women endured just a few decades ago to be afforded the same opportunities as men, both in society and business as well as under the law. Women in the 1960s and 1970s truly fought for their equal rights – the right to earn the same compensation as men (which is still a struggle), to take birth control, and even the right to wear pants to work. Then, women had to battle to break the mold of “homemaker” and “housewife” to be taken seriously in the workplace and to change the expectations of women in American culture. As a result, women today have a range of options, from where they go to college to their profession, with many women just as comfortably in search of the domestic life. The article also pointed to the importance of women lifting other women up, and that there is power in numbers. We couldn’t agree more!

We hear some women wonder where the “bra burners” and feminists are in today’s female youth and the sentiment that women aren’t as fiery as they once were about their sexuality. Now that women have more choices, perhaps there is an inherent dilution or neutralizing effect in women’s collective struggle? That doesn’t mean young women aren’t every bit as aware as their female predecessors of their social gender roles – or questioning of them. Vixely is happy to be reminded that female empowerment was an important part of America’s recent past, and that the quest remains for its future leaders.
